So yesterday a friend asked me if she should break up with her boyfriend or not because in a few months he was leaving and they both were going to be living on separate continents. She knew the relationship would end, so what’s the point. My response?
Relationships that you know will end are like summer jobs. Sure, you already know it’ll end, but you still get the job and keep it for the summer. Why? Because even though it’s temporary, at least for the summer you get to have the experience and enjoy the outcome. Experiences are things that will be with you forever, even if they don’t last forever themselves.
Her: ”But we all need money, that’s why the job is worth keeping.”
Me: “But I think we all need love too, don’t we?”
